Meet the volunteers
Rhianna Jackson: Rhianna is a 22-year-old volunteer who is involved in fundraising for the Nerve Centre through making cards and jewellery. She has had a neurological impairment since having a brain tumour at the age of 5.
Keith Parry: Keith (66) works as a volunteer in the Nerve Centre library and also assists in admin work. He has specialist knowledge of transport issues and represents disabled people on a Kirklees committee. He has CMT and represents carers on the Nerve Centre Trust.
Ryan Dixon: Ryan (24) works as a volunteer on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays, mainly on the reception, conducting other tasks ‘as and when’. He has Cerebral Palsy.
Janet Lynn: Janet (51) works as a volunteer involved in craft activities, in particular her knitting class. She has bruised her spine following a road traffic accident and suffers panic attacks.
Tony Kelsall: Tony is 40 and works as a volunteer at the Nerve Centre on Thursdays. Having secured an MA in Disability Studies at the University of Leeds, in September/October last year he taught a six week course about ‘disability issues’ at the Nerve Centre. Tony is permanently brain-damaged following a road traffic accident which occurred thirteen years ago which resulted in a serious Head Injury.
